PANJIM: All the agencies executing various works in the State capital under the Smart City Mission will make a presentation of their projects for the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) councillors on Friday.
The programme, organised by Imagine Panjim Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL), who will also have a presentation on Goa Intelligent City Management System (GICMS).
Public Works Department (PWD), Water Resources Department (WRD), Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA), Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) and Architecture Autonomous will make power-point presentations of their respective ongoing projects.
GSUDA will make a presentation of the two city roads which will be developed as Smart roads. These roads are, one starting from the foot of Old Patto bridge up to Four Pillars junction (1.4-km long) and the other is from St Inez junction up to the Adarsh Colony junction, Miramar.
While building the road from St Inez up to Miramar, two interacting roads – one from Bashik Branco’s junction up to fire station via Hindu crematorim and the other road from fire service station up to Bal Bhavan, Campal – will also be developed as smart roads, making it a total distance of 5.3-km.
Both these roads will be concretised with 15-metre width barring at few places and will have provision for utility services on either side of the roads. Once built and developed road diggings will not be permitted on both these Smart roads.
The salient feature of both the smart roads is that they will be developed under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode. This is for the first time that projects will be built under EPC mode in the State.
According to official sources, the EPC mode entails the contractor build the infrastructure project by designing, procuring required labour and materials and installing, either directly or sub-contracting them within the estimated cost.
Under this mode, there will be no cost escalation and the onus will be on the contractor to build and develop the project.
GSUDA has already invited Request For Qualification (RFQ) for the construction of both the smart roads. The cost of both these roads is estimated at Rs 120 crore.
Water Resources Department (WRD) will make a presentation on the rejuvenation of the St Inez creek at an estimated cost of Rs 160 crore while, PWD (water supply) will make a presentation of the construction of two overhead water reservoirs to provide water 24×7 for Panjim.
The presentation by GSIDC will be on the proposed pedestrian footbridge linking Central Library and Mala Creek at Patto-Panaji. The estimated cost of the project is Rs over 6.70 crore.
GSIDC has already invited tenders for the project and the last date to submit bids was August 31. But due to poor response the date to submit online bids has been extended till September 6, sources said.
The meeting also approved a proposal to construct a pedestrian bridge linking Central Library and Mala creek at Patto-Panjim at an estimated cost of Rs 5 crore. Most of these works will be executed through Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) and PWD.
