SANGUEM, MAY 5

Residents of Sanguem under the leadership of former Sanguem Municipal Council (SMC) chairperson Sanjay Raikar have threatened to confront Sanguem Mamlatdar on May 7 for his failure to efficiently handle mutation-related cases in Sanguem.
“Since passing of new legislation by the government, thereby bestowing the powers of certification in mutation-related cases to the Deputy Collector, all the work pertaining to such cases was put on hold at all the offices of the Mamlatdar including the office of Sanguem Mamlatdar,” informed Raikar.
However couple of months ago, the government after studying the defects and problems envisaged in the implementation of the new passed resolution, the government reversed its order and reverted back the powers of certification in mutation cases to the Mamlatdar.
Incidentally, despite the order passed by the Mamlatdar, the Sanguem Mamlatdar’s office is yet to act in the matter and decide on many mutation cases, presently kept pending at the Mamlatdar’s office, Sanguem.
The only reason being reportedly cited by the officials is that they are yet to receive requisite circular from the government, thereby notifying the change in the earlier notification.
Raikar however pointed out that all other offices in the State have already started pursuing with the mutation cases and it is only the Sanguem Mamlatdar who is sleeping with the mutation cases despite requisite orders from the government.
As an act of retaliation, locals from Sanguem led by Raikar have threatened to lead an agitation to the office Sanguem Mamlatdar on Friday and confront Sanguem Mamlatdar over the harassment meted out to them in mutation-related cases.
Raikar has urged all the locals having their grievances in mutation-related cases to join the agitation called by him and remain present outside the office of Sanguem Mamlatdar on May 7 at 9.45 am.
