Some people even said that the Eiffel tower was not built by Eiffel

Everyone is free to declare their own King or the God they want to follow, but Goa’s togetherness and harmony will always remain

The world knows the Eiffel Tower was built from 1887 to 1889 by French engineer Gustave Eiffel. This is etched in stone and inscribed as an ultimate fact. But, there are still people who say that the iconic tower in Paris built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution was not really built by him.

Well, these are the beliefs of some.

Similarly, one of the founding fathers of the RSS in Goa, Subhash Velingkar the ‘state convenor’ of an outfit Hindi Raksha Maha Aghadi announced a twenty-day campaign in Goa to purportedly state that it was not Francis Xavier but Bhagwan Parashuram who was the ‘rakshan karta’( Goencho Saib of Goa). And then he went on to say calling Francis Xavier Goencho Saib was “anti-national”.

Firstly, this is a free country, and everyone has the freedom to choose his or her own King or follow his or her God and worship their own saints and follow their own gurus.

It may be that person’s version or his or her interpretation of history. It’s a matter of personal belief and choice or even knowledge and there is no quarrel with that, at all. They should be very happy and contented with their own beliefs.

Harmony has been Goa’s king, Goa’s hero, and Goans raise a toast to it

At the same time for hundreds of years, Goans across faiths and castes, and professions have lived the Goa way of life – of harmony love warmth with no divisions, and a spirit of togetherness that makes Goa what it is. Harmony has indeed been Goa’s hero, Goa’s king, and Goa’s protector.

As we have seen just today, the so beautiful and touching gesture of the Vasco police in inviting people from different communities to come to the police station for an Iftar party. They sat and ate together, had conversations, and bonded in the universal brotherhood of mankind.  This is the Goa one has been brought upon in. This is the Goa one knows.

The police of Vasco deserve the highest praise and congratulations from the people of Goa.

In one gesture they have really shown that THIS IS OUR GOA.
