Sound curbs relaxed during IFFI, Christmas & New Year

PANJIM: The State Government has issued a notification relaxing curbs on the use of loud speakers and public address system between 10 pm and 12 midnight during the days of International Film Festival of India (IFFI), besides the festive season of Christmas and New Year.

The relaxation is permitted throughout the State from November 21 to 26 and then from December 24 to 26 and on December 31.

“However, the permission shall be granted only on a case to case basis, in response to a specific application made by the concerned village panchayat, municipal corporation or Municipal council or an individual or any recognized entity in the State,” a statement said.

It is also stated that the provisions of Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000 shall be strictly complied with and the concerned authority shall monitor the noise levels during the permitted festive occasion and other occasions also, and take prompt remedial action in the event of any violation of the same and of this condition, the statement added.
