The candidates began their visits early morning and even held huge rallies with their workers as a show of strength.
The Margao Development Front has given importance to personally meetings the voters. Sitting Councillor Raju Naik met the people of Junta Quarters area, while Chairperson Arthur D’Silva had corner meetings in his ward. Dorris Texeira, Damu Shirodkar and Avinash Shirodkar of the Digambar Kamat panel also dedicated their time to personal meets. The candidates of Vijai Sardesai’s Fatorda Forward have also ended their campaigns with a bang.
Candidates of the Curchorem municipality have used their reserve energy in a huge way. Ward 1 candidate Felix Fernandes had a rally with 150 of his workers and also had personal visits. Former Chairperson Lucio Diniz, former Panch Mangesh Naik and former Chairperson Manohar Naik were amongst those present at the rally.
“By meeting the people on the last day we are putting forward our vision to the people” said Councillor Anand Prabhudessai, who is contesting in Ward 10, while his wife is contesting in Ward 9.
Former Chairperson Deu Sonu Naik, who had drifted away from politics, also campaigned on the last day.
Prasad Faldessai, who is contesting from Ward 5 in Quepem, also had a rally and ended his campaign with door-to-door meets. He said, “I feel it is necessary to tell the people about my vision and convince them about it. In my campaign, I have combed entire the Shirvoi-Someshwar Temple area. My people are convinced with my vision and I am sure I will get the winning edge in this election.”
