MARGAO: The South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) board has been reconstituted with Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’Sa as its chairman.
The other members of the SGPDA are Ponda and Margao MLAs, Ponda Municipal Chairman Venkatesh Naik, Ponda Councillor Vishwanath Dalvi, Margao Councillors Rupesh Mahatme, Ketan Kurtarkar, President of BJP Margao Mandal Shri Subodh Govekar, Sandeep Khandeparkar from Ponda, Remejio Fernandes from Verna, Chairperson of QMC Dayesh Naik and Town Planning official.
The exclusion of Margao Municipal Chairwoman Babita Angle and the inclusion of Dayesh Naik have caught the attention of the observers.
On the exclusion of Angle from SGPDA, former Town and Country Planning minister Vijai Sardesai said, “The constitution of any government body is the prerogative of the government. I have a feeling that the government and the Town and Country Planning Department want to modify the planning area of the SGPDA to include Quepem and it is very clear.”
“Quepem is sought to be brought in Margao and we don’t know whether Margao will remain in Margao,” Vijai commented.
“The inclusion of Quepem chairperson makes me feel that Quepem will become planning area and when that happens we will have a violation of the Regional Plan. RP says that 0.60 and 0.80 i.e. VP 1 and VP 2 villages the moment you put it into planning area you can build with up to 200 FAR/FSI which may be the plan because the town planning is from Quepem,” Vijai hinted.
