MARGAO: Taking strong exception to the wanton destruction of ecology and environment by the government in the name of development, Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro on Thursday called upon the Goans to spare no effort to preserve the ecology, environment and the pristine beauty of Goa.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Vanamohotsav celebration at Navelim, Faleiro said, “Following the COVID-19 pandemic, if we still do not realise the need to live with healthy environmental conditions, then we stare at a very grim future.”
He appealed to the people of Navelim to help make Navelim a green and beautiful place by planting and nurturing trees.
Our Lady of Rosary Church parish priest Fr Arlino De Melo urged the people to contribute their bit towards a healthy environment.
Over 2000 saplings of coconut, mango, cashew, lime, jackfruit, guava, jamla, etc, were distributed.
Sarpanch Belinda Gonsalves, deputy sapanch Paulo Pereira, ex Sarpanch Wilma D’Silva, Aquem Baixo sarpanch Subash Satardekar, Aquem Baixo panchas Anand Zambaulikar and Brenda Dias, Rumdamol sarpanch Mohd Samiullah Faniband, Rumdamol panchas Avita Chodankar and Esha Naik and former chairperson of Margao Municipal Council Savio Coutinho also distributed the saplings.
