PANJIM: Charges against Police Inspector Raju Raut Desai for allegedly not registering a cognizable offence, will not be pursued as the State Police Complaints Authority (SPCA) has dropped the proceedings against him on Thursday.
The authority was hearing a plea filed by one Jose M B Furtado alleging that PI Desai did not register a cognizable offence on his complaint against two persons who allegedly trespassed into his property and demolished the boundary wall by using JCB excavator.
“The petitioner has not been able to place on record any material which would either disclose any prejudice to have been caused to him on account of any failure or inaction on the part of the PI. On the contrary, the facts on record, indicate that the PI had taken appropriate action,” the SPCA observed. Since no prima facie case was made out, the proceedings were dropped.
