PONDA: Goa Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar and Minister for Art and Culture, Govind Gaude distributed sanction orders and Forest Right Titles, and also inaugurated a workshop-cum-training on entrepreneurship and Forest Rights Act, 2006 at a function held in the Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda on Thursday.
The function was jointly organised by the Goa State Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation Limited, Tribal Research Institute, Goa, and the Directorate of Tribal Welfare.
The Best SDLC Chairman and Forest Right Committee were felicitated in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the tribal community.
Tawadkar expressed his commitment to work for the betterment of the tribal community. He encouraged the tribal population to take advantage of government schemes devised for their benefit.
Tawadkar emphasised that tribal culture is an integral part of Goa’s identity and shared his vision of ensuring that no person remains unemployed in Canacona by 2030 through the Canacona vision and concept mission.
He encouraged a positive outlook, highlighting that it’s the key to solving problems.
Gaude expressed his support for tribal community entrepreneurs, emphasising that provisions for investment have already been made to help them improve their lives.
He stressed that persistence and perseverance are more important than formal education. Pointing out the young minds, he emphasised on creating job opportunities for the next generation rather than running behind the job.
UTTA president Prakash Velip emphasized the importance of empowerment and support for the tribal community.
The event featured informative sessions on the Forest Rights Committee (FRC) by Ajay Gaude, State-level nodal officer FRC, entrepreneurship by Pravin Sabnis, and marine entrepreneurship by Dr Lata Gaude, Assistant Professor at Goa University.
Shankar Gaonkar, Director of Tribal Research Institute, and Managing Director of GSSTFDCL, welcomed, while Umesh Kholkar conducted the programme and Dasharath Redkar, Director of Tribal Welfare, proposed a vote of thanks.
