PANJIM: Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Dr Jitendra Singh said Goa’s request for a separate administrative cadre was being examined by the Centre.
In a written reply to Rajya Sabha MP Shantaram Naik, Singh said there has been a request for formation of a separate cadre of All India Service for Goa in 2011 and it is being examined.
The minister said the comments/views of Ministry of Home Affairs were being sought as it was the authority for AGMUT cadre.
It was thereafter conveyed to the State that the existing Joint AGMUT cadre system addresses the concerns of the State with reference to cadre management.
The minister further said that a similar proposal has been submitted by Goa to MHA in 2014. It is currently under examination by MHA along with similar proposals by other constituent segments of AGMUT cadre.
Giving the details of present strength of cadre as regards Goa, the minister said Goa presently has 18 senior duty posts of the IAS, 8 senior duty posts of the IPS and 12 senior duty posts of the IFS.
