PANJIM: Though the Goa Board has scheduled early examinations for classes XII and X this year, it is in no hurry to declare the results early, since the results will be out only in May, Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education officials stated.
SSC students begin their examinations today, while HSSC students began their examinations Monday. It is for the first time that class X and XII students will be answering their exams together.
Results for HSSC could be out this year tentatively by May 10 and SSC by May 20.
“There is no point hurrying with the declaration of results,” Board Chairman J R Rebello said, when contacted by the Herald Monday.
Rebello said that the Goa Board will first declare HSSC results and leave sufficient gap before declaring the SSC results to complete the re-evaluation process.
“In case of HSSC we have to complete such process, particularly in case of Science students by May 25 as the results have to be sent to the CBSE in case of those student wishing to answer the All India Joint Entrance exams where State Board results,” he informed.
In case of SSC, the results would be out tentatively by May 20. Here, Rebello said that declaring these results early would serve no purpose as Higher Secondary institutions open for regular classes only in June.
While the Goa Board is conducting examinations for Classes XII and X simultaneously it is also concentrating on paper corrections.
On day one Tuesday, total of 19,965 class X students will be answering English.
Meanwhile, the All Goa Secondary School Teachers Association has allayed fears of boycotting supervision and corrections of Goa Board exams even as the association is meeting Tuesday to discuss various issues irking the teaching community.
The president of the association said, “We will not in any way jeopardize the on-going conduct of exams and put students to inconvenience.”
