PANJIM: A total one million metric tons of iron ore stacked at jetties and ports would be auctioned in the first week of February, Director Mines Prasanna Acharya declared Tuesday. The nearly 4.88 million metric tons of ore stacked at jetties and Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) would be auctioned in the first phase.
A total of 16 companies including five from Goa have bid for the e-auction of 15 million metric tons of stacked iron ore till Tuesday. The Mines department had on January 14 invited application for the auction.
Though, so far there has been no deadline set for submission of application for the auction, Mines Department through a notification issued Tuesday announced to conduct a one-day training programme for the prospective bidders on January 30.
Hence, January 30 could the last date for submission of application as after training, login ID and password would be given to the bidders to participate in the auction. The firms registered with Indian Bureau of Mines under Rule 45 of MCDR, 1988 are eligible for e-auction.
