Stalls selling liquor sans permits raided at Colva
HERALD REPORTER
MARGAO, MAY 9
The Salcete taluka excise office on Sunday raided three establishments at Colva and found that they were selling liquor without permits from the Excise department.
The raids were carried out by Sripad Talaulikar following complaints that the stalls were selling liquor in violation of excise rules.
Three establishments, which were raided were found in possession of beer crates. While one or two beer crates were found inside two establishments, the excise team seized around 10 beer crates from the third establishment.
This is the first raid conducted by the Excise department in recent times.
The excise department is further investigating the case, even as sources in the know informed that only one stall in the government-owned property is in possession of license from the Excise department.
