PANJIM: As the dust settles on the Lok Sabha elections, the state machinery is switching back to routine administration, after commending itself on the successful conduct of elections and for the high voter turnout in the state.
The North Goa Collector, the District Election Officer, has thanked the public of North Goa for “strengthening the pillars of democracy and voting peacefully and in large numbers, thereby breaking the records of polling percentage in Lok Sabha election 2014.”
“The Officers deployed from various departments by North Goa Collectorate completed the herculean task of conducting the Lok Sabha polls, working tirelessly at a stretch for more than 36 hours. Collectorate of North Goa sincerely thank all of them for their dedicated work,” North Goa Collector D P Dwivedi said.
In a post election decision, the District Magistrate, North Goa has notified that the lane to the left of DB Bandodkar Road from M/s Kantak Petrol Pump to Dempo House and the lane from Panjim Ferry Point (from the cross) till the Entertainment Society of Goa, Panjim, as “Parking for Election duty vehicles only” published in extraordinary Official Gazette Series III no 50 dated 14/03/2014, has been withdrawn with immediate effect.
District Magistrate North Goa also ordered that the Superintendent of Police (Traffic) should clear the lane of all vehicles presently parked there.
