State Advisory Board on Disability reconstituted

PANJIM: The State government has reconstituted the State Advisory Board on Disability under the chairmanship of Social Welfare Minister Milind Naik.

MLAs Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, Alina Saldanha and Nilkant Halarnkar, DRAG President Avelino D’Sa, Director of Caritas Fr Maverick Fernandes, disability experts Sudesh Gaude and Prakash Kamat, Sanjay School for Special Education, Research and Training Chairman Guruprasad Pawaskar, National Association for the Blind, Goa branch President Rozendo Mendonza and its computer and research centre incharge Mahadev Sawant, New Dawn Ashadeep, Vasco chairman Savio Messais, Director of Sethu Dr Nandita de Souza, Saksham Goa secretary Santosh Kamat, GCCI President Manoj Caculo, Mineral Foundation of Goa Chief Executive Officer Sachin Tendulkar, Shree Gujarathi Samaj School for Deaf and Dumb, Margao Chairman Mukesh Saglani, Daddy’s Home School for the Mentally Retarded Children, Margao Valmiki Dias, St Xavier Academy Old Goa (disability expert) headmistress Sister Monica, GSIA president Vishwanath Kochkar, Fedrika Menezes of Persons of Disability Cause for Our Joy, Mapusa managing trustee Peter Castellino, disability experts Monika Sight from Chorao and Vrinda Moye, SC representative  Gauresh Parwar, ST representative Vijay Gawas are members of the Board.

Also 17 Secretaries to Government are Ex-Officio members of the 36-member Board. Director of Social Welfare Umeshchandra Joshi will be the member secretary and ex-officio of the Board. 

The State Advisory Board will function as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and the Goa Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2018. 

The tenure of the Board is for a period of three years.
