State declares holiday today

PANJIM: As a mark of respect to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who passed away on Thursday, the State government has declared a holiday on August 17.
“All Goa government offices, educational institutions, PSUs, autonomous bodies  will remain closed tomorrow (Friday),” GAD under secretary Varsha Naik said.
Speaking to Herald, Chief Secretary Dharmendra Sharma said that the 7-day mourning declared by the government of India is applicable to the entire country but decision on declaring holiday was left to the States.
