STATE GOVERNMENT INITIATES BEACH SHACK ALLOCATION AFTER OVER ONE AND A HALF MONTH DELAY

After an unexpected delay of over one and a half months since the commencement of the new tourism season, the State government has finally begun the long-anticipated process of allocating beach shacks along the coastal belt. This move comes as a relief to both tourists and local businesses eagerly awaiting the renewal of this beloved beach tradition.

For the upcoming tourism season spanning 2023-2026, a total of 364 beach shacks have been approved, further enhancing the state’s reputation as a prime beach destination. The allocation is strategically divided between North and South Goa, catering to the distinct preferences of beachgoers.

The maximum number of beach shacks will adorn the Calangute-Candolim stretch, a hotspot for tourists seeking sun, sand, and scenic beauty. Although the shack permits are valid for a three-year period, the tourism department clarified that the license will be issued for a single year and will require annual renewal for subsequent years.

In October, the tourism department invited applications for setting up beach shacks and was inundated with over 1500 applications from eager entrepreneurs and experienced operators alike.

The initiation of the beach shack allocation process marks a crucial step in revitalizing the state’s tourism industry and promises a dynamic and vibrant beach experience for visitors in the coming years.
