Statements in Fiona murder case recorded

MARGAO: The statements of the key witnesses in the murder case of Fiona Fernandes have been recorded by the Margao Police in the last week.

 Two doctors and the retail merchant who sold the trolley bag to Anthony Fernandes were interrogated by the police.
Anthony, a kantarist and tiatrist, allegedly confessed to murdering his wife.
According to police, while Anthony attempted to stab Fiona with a kitchen knife, he was also hurt in the process. He went to a doctor in Fatrade, where he was not entertained, and later went to Mother Care Hospital, Margao, for treatment. The police have recorded the statements of both the doctors.
The police have also recorded the statement of the retailer who sold the trolley bag to Anthony. Anthony had allegedly packed the corpse of his wife in the bag and burned it.
It may be recalled that Anthony (50) allegedly murdered his wife Fiona (42) packed her body in the trolley bag and burnt the same at Monte Hill on March 25. He was arrested by Margao police in under five hours and is in police custody.
Sources added that the victim’s family will make an appeal asking for the most severe punishment for Anthony.
