MAPUSA: The statements of the minor swimmer who was allegedly sexually harassed by her coach, Surajit Ganguly and her parents were recorded on Friday.
On reaching Goa, the victim was produced before the magistrate to record her statement.
A senior official from Mapusa Police station told Herald that besides recording the statement of the victim they also recorded the statement of her parents.
“A team from the Mapusa police station had left for West Bengal on September 10 to record the statement of the victim. The minor girl agreed to come to Goa and testify against the accused coach who is in police custody and currently lodged at Colvale central jail. We have completed with her medicals as well as all the other procedures,” he said.
The accused swimming coach was booked by Mapusa police under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Goa Children’s Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
