PANJIM: The State’s first Aquamarine Amusement Park is all set to come up at Benaulim in South Goa, with Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) approving the project to be taken up on public-private-partnership (PPP) basis.
Addressing media persons on Tuesday, GSIDC chairman Dr Pramod Sawant said that the Board has approved construction of aquamarine amusement park on government-owned land of about 10 acres at Benaulim. “The project will be taken up on PPP model, with revenue sharing condition,” he said.
GSIDC is currently looking for private partners to take up the project. “Once we identify private partners, the total estimated cost of the project will be worked out,” Sawant said.
The ambitious project, which was initially supposed to be taken by the Directorate of Fisheries, will now be constructed by GSIDC.
The project will be land-based, a combination of a public aquarium and an amusement park offering additional entertainment attractions. The aquamarine project will have space for workshops, conference halls, open spaces for events and also a restaurant. A laboratory for research is also expected to be set up along with quarantine facility.
