PANJIM: Four persons, including a Std XI student from Tiverem-Marcela, committed suicide, while a 68-year-old resident of Gaune-Bandora was found dead in separate incidents in Ponda taluka on Tuesday.
According to Ponda Police, Nikhil Sawant (17) reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself with the help of a Dupatta at his residence at Tiverem-Marcela at about 10 am.
In the second incident, the body of a 44-year-old bus driver, Anthony Pereira, was found hanging from a roadside tree at Mangueshi.
In the third incident, Sunil Kopardekar (28) of Tambdi Surla, Sacorda, committed suicide by hanging himself near tourist a guest house at Tamdi Surla. The body was preserved in GMC morgue in Bambolim for post mortem, Collem Police said.
In third incident at Mapusa, Luis Alvares (82) of Mapusa committed suicide by hanging with the help of a nylon rope at his residence. PSI Premnath Mhaldar is investigating the case.
Meanwhile, one Venkatesh Naik (68) of Gaune-Bandora was found dead in a Nullah at Bandora. Ponda Police said, the deceased was reported missing since late Monday evening. Ponda Police is investigating.
