PANJIM: Crusher units operating in the State would be brought under the ambit of The Factories Act, Minister for Factories and Boilers Pandurang Deepak Dhavalikar said, arguing that this was being done to ensure the health and safety of workers engaged by them.
Speaking as chief guest at the inaugural of the 11th National Conference on Occupational Safety, Health and Environment organized by Inspectorate of Factories and Boilers in collaboration with Green Triangle Society and DG FASLE titled “Human power ~ the key aspect of productivity” he said that health, safety and environment are integral aspects of productivity and importance of these aspects cannot be taken lightly.
“Safety cannot be overlooked. Therefore employers should incur proper expenditure on this aspect which will enhance productivity. It is the responsibility of every employer to look after the well being of his workers,” he said.
Director of DG FASLE, Government of India, Vishwanathan said health, safety and environment are to be treated as assets of any industry. “Therefore investment on these aspects should not be curtailed,” he said.
stressing on the need to work on improving occupational safety.
