On October 2, much publicity was given in all local dailies to the launch of “Swachch Bharat Nital Goem” an initiative to free Goa and India from the garbage menace.
Unfortunately, garbage bags regularly dumped by unscrupulous shack operators along the Siolim-Vaddy road are a nuisance that needs to be immediately stopped.
Unless the Tourism Department comes up with stringent measures to curb the ongoing malpractices, the “Swachch Bharat Nital Goem” initiative will remain a distant dream.
