BORIM: Admitting that indiscipline has affected some educational institutions, Governor Bharat Vir Wanchoo on Saturday appealed to educationists to guard their institutions zealously, so that the sanctity of these institutions will not be tarnished.
Addressing the concluding ceremony of the Silver Jubilee year of Shivgram Education Society (SES) at Shiroda, Governor Wanchoo also expressed his desire that education should improve in remote areas. “Although Goa is ahead in education sector, still there is lot to be done in remote areas,” he said.
Wanchoo emphasized the need of world class education, to enhance the capacity and competitiveness of youth to progress and lead the country to greater heights. “It is only through education that we can hope to eradicate social evils,” said the governor.
Wanchoo also felt that the role of teachers is of fundamental importance in the overall education system and is to provide quality education to children.
He advised teachers to undertake their assignment with missionary zeal and to equip themselves adequately to meet the challenges of providing quality education.
In his address, SES Chairman and former minister Subhash Shirodkar said he intends to set up two colleges in shipbuilding and physiotherapy.
