CANACONA: The students of Shri Saraswati Vidhya Mandir in Khalwadem at Canacona were given practical lessons on growing paddy, recently. A group of 20 class 4 students — both girls and boys — lead by their headmistress Nita Vagonkar and teachers Riya Prabhudesai and Sushant Gaonkar, visited a paddy field at Khalwade in Canacona on Thursday and learnt how to grow paddy. Others present during the training programme were PTA Chairman Damodar Chari and member Samrat S Bhagat. The students were taught to transplant rice seedlings in the field.
