PANJIM: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) on Monday informed that the students seeking admission for Science and Diploma courses for Class XI, will have to answer Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) based entrance examination, as the Class X Board exams were cancelled in view of prevailing COVID-19 situation in State.
In a communication to Heads of Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools, the Board Secretary Geraldina Mendes has said that considering the present situation of the pandemic and in consultation with the stakeholders and expert committee, it is decided that the Board exams for Class X that was scheduled from May 13 to June 4 stands cancelled.
She has further said that the results of Class X will be prepared on the basis of internal assessment conducted by the schools and scaled up as per an objective criterion prepared by the Board, the details of which will be released shortly.
“For admission to Class XI Science and Diploma courses, the Board will conduct an entrance examination based on syllabus of Maths and Science of Class X. The examination will be MCQs based,” Mendes said adding that the details will be notified subsequently.
The Board has further said that all unsuccessful candidates and repeat candidates registered for April 2021 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Examination will be allowed to keep terms (ATKT) in Class XI.
“The Schedule of the Supplementary Examination will be announced well in advance,” Mendes said.
Also, the private Candidates registered for the examination and the ITI students registered for Equivalency Certificate of Class X are asked to appear for Board examination to be conducted on later date that will be announced in advance.
The GBHSE said that the Board examination for Class XII is already postponed and the decision will be communicated after a review in the coming week.
The schools are directed to bring the decision to the notice of all concerned and to display it at prominent place on the Notice Board of the School.
