OLD GOA, OCT 14
Heavy rains disrupted normal life in Ribandar, Old Goa, Corlim and surrounding areas on Thursday evening with rain water entering shops and other business establishments.
The rains which started at about 5 pm caught a number of people off-guard, as people who were on their way back home from Panjim to Ponda had to take shelter at various place along the Ribandar-Corlim highway.
As no proper drainage system is made available along the Old Goa-Corlim highway at Old Goa near St Xavier’s Residency at Madkaikar Classic, rain water entered the shops and other business establishments.
Over six shops had to face the brunt of the rains, as rain water entered the shops and damaged some of their business items.
Locals from Old Goa too had a tough time moving in the locality, as some locals were seen moving through the knee-deep water. The drains are choked up at the site of the highway.
