Supreme Court assures Tejpal early hearing

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday assured Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal to list soon his appeal against the Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court refusing an in-camera hearing in the 2013 sexual assault case.

The assurance came from a Bench of Chief Justice of India N V Ramana and Justices A S Bopanna and Hima Kohli when senior advocate Siddharth Luthra, appearing for Tejpal, mentioned for early listing since two judges have recused from hearing it.

“We will list it again,” the CJI said. Two judges who recused at two separate hearings were Justices U U Lalit and L Nageswara Rao.

Tejpal, in his appeal has sought an in-camera hearing of the appeal by the Goa Government against his acquittal by the trial court on May 21, 2021.
