MAYEM: Bicholim Deputy Collector Biju Naik has warned bar owners from Surla-Sattari to cancel their bar license if they cross the limit of the closing time period fixed from 9 am to 11 pm.
Naik was addressing a joint meeting of women representatives, bar owners, panchas, police, excise and RTO officials at the Bicholim deputy collector’s office. The meeting was organised in the wake of rising protests from villagers against indecent acts of the tourists under the influence of alcohol.
During the meeting, the villagers brought to the notice of the deputy collector about the indecency of the tourists with the local people. The deputy collector instructed the police to deploy police personnel at Surla to avoid such incidents.
Naik also suggested Thane Dongurli Panch Santosh Gaonkar to install a pay parking facility near the entry spot of village to avoid traffic jams, especially on Saturday and Sunday. Panch Gaonkar told Naik that efforts regarding it are in progress. It was also decided to declare the area in front of local GPS as ‘No Parking Zone’.
RTO official Sandeep Parodkar, Valpoi PI Sanjay Dalvi, excise inspector H Desai, Surla Panch Santosh Gaonkar and women representatives were present for the meeting.
