Another 30-year-old male, who returned from Germany, developed influenza-like illness and his swab sample was sent to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases at Delhi to test for the HIN1 virus on Friday.
Besides, the wife and four other contacts of the confirmed swine flu case (that returned from the US) quarantined at Chicalim Cottage Hospital have also developed influenza-like illness, health authorities said here.
The wife has been admitted to the Female Ward of the quarantine facility at the same hospital, while the others have been advised to remain at home till their sample reports are received. They have been asked to use face masks and to wash hands frequently in order to avoid the spread of infection in case they are infected.
On Friday a total of six swab samples, including those of the wife and the four other contacts, were sent to NICD. Some more contacts of the confirmed case have been traced and given Tamiflu prophylaxis, a statement issued by the Directorate of Health Services said.
Today, 96 international passengers were screened at the Dabolim airport but no one was found to require any special care or investigation. The total number of passengers screened till date is 11,099.
As of now, Goa has had two confirmed cases of swine flu. The first victim was detected last month soon after he had arrived from Brussels and the other was yesterday who had come from the US.
