VASCO: The Mormugao Municipal chief officer on Tuesday appealed to the South West Port Limited officials to repair the damaged roof of Municipal High School under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
He made the appeal at an even organised to distribute free notebooks to the needy students of the Municipal High School by Shri Vasco Gujarati Samaj (SVGS) and South West Port Limited (SWPL).
The chief officer said that the works on new municipal school was underway but due to various administrative difficulties, it could not be tendered. Therefore, he requested SWPL to repair the roofs of the school under CSR. Accepting the appeal, SWPL head assured that the school would be inspected by civil engineers and the take up the roofing work.
“The Municipal High School is the only school in the State which is run by a municipality. I have also made a special request to SWPL to take up works on roofs under CSR. The school is under renovation, but due to administrative difficulties, the works could not be tendered and SWPL has assured to take up the works under CSR and take immediate measure to take care of leaking roofs,” the chief officer said.
