In view of seriousness of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and also taking into account the forthcoming State Assembly elections, Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has announced it will continue with the curtailed academic syllabus for the Class X and XII for the upcoming term 2021-22.
The Board during the last term had curtailed the syllabus of Class IX to XII to the extent of 28 per cent to 30 per cent in the major subjects.

In a circular issued to heads of the schools, GBSHSE secretary Geraldina Mendes said, “In view of seriousness of the pandemic, postponement of exams and the forthcoming assembly elections, the academic year 2021-2022 curtailed syllabus for class X and XII will remain the same.”
During the last academic year, for Class X the syllabus was curtailed in all subjects except prevocational course subjects, since the portion is limited.
On the other hand for Class XII, general stream, the syllabus was curtailed in all major subjects, while for the vocational stream the curtailment was limited to general foundation, computer techniques, agriculture and horticulture, technical, health care, commerce based and bakery.
For Class X and XII special children, the syllabus was curtailed in all subjects.
Owing to the surge in COVID-19 cases, the Board has cancelled the Class X and XII examinations. While the Class X results would be announced on July 13 based on internal assessment done by schools, the decision with regards to Class XII students is awaited.
