Plans to contest for Assembly seat on BJP ticket in St Cruz

PANJIM: Taleigao sarpanch Agnelo D’Cunha resigned from his post on Tuesday so as to focus on the ensuing Assembly elections.

When contacted, D’Cunha said that he has resigned as the sarpanch as he plans to contest the ensuing Assembly elections from Santa Cruz constituency.

He said that he wants to contest the Assembly polls on BJP ticket and that he has been asked by the party to work in the constituency. Ultimately it is for the party whom to give the ticket, he said adding that the party is conducting its survey in the constituency. To a question, D’Cunha claimed the backing of Revenue Minister Jennifer Monserrate and Panjim MLA Babush Monserrate for his candidature. 

D’Cunha was the Taleigao sarpanch for last three years.
