Taleigao students happy with the meals

Vrishank Mahatme visited San Minguel HS to get the students views on the midday meals

When team Herald visited San Minguel High School in Taleigao, it was observed that most students were happy with the meals they got from the Government midday meal scheme.
Students mentioned that the quality and taste of the meals provided has tremendously improved in comparison to the past. Students were also satisfied by the hygiene maintained by the suppliers whilst providing the meal.
The meals provided to the schools are prepared by Self Help Groups (SHG). The students also expressed happiness towards the variety and freshness of the food which is provided to them. Some students also stated that the meals are always delivered on time.
Students also mentioned the fact that they were happy to bring in their own tiffin boxes to collect their meal during their break. One of the students mentioned that the quantity has also increased a lot as compared to the past.
Team Herald also witnessed that the utensils which were used for delivering the meal were also very clean and that the staff distributing the meal also maintained proper hygiene.
Meanwhile, some students expressed relief as previously left-over food was being provided to them by the meal suppliers but in recent times this has not been repeated.
Students also demanded that fresh fruits should be provided to them regularly.
When asked about the problems they faced earlier, they said that the quality of the food was not up to the mark. They also said there used to be more water than the actual gravy and also the same menu was repeated continuously for the next three to four days.
They also mentioned that earlier they used to get their own eatables from home because of the poor quality of the meals provided to them.
When asked whether they want this meal scheme to continue in the future, the students responded in a positive manner as they want it to continue. Also stating that the quality level and hygiene standard should also be maintained properly.
