CANACONA: Residents of Agonda have criticised the PWD (water supply) for its alleged failure to maintain regular water supply on a daily basis despite there being ample availability of the resources, even as their taps have run dry for the last four days.
The residents complained that the PWD’s apathy in continuing with the practice of supplying water on alternate days has left them with no water supply since Sunday.
According to PWD sources, the release of water supply to Agonda residents got affected after a pipeline from Shristhal Treatment Plant to Agonda storage tank got ruptured at Nargarcem.
According to a resident, Dayanand Phaldessai, people are particular angry that even after repairing the ruptured pipeline at Nagarcem, neither water supply was resumed for areas like Karashirmoll, Mirandawada, nor alternate arrangements made, keeping every household in these areas without water for last four days.
Another resident, Pradeep Pagi, said: “We fail to understand why our areas are still continued with alternate day and that too 2-3 hours water supply arrangements, when there are sufficient storage facilities and supply from treatment plant.”
Another resident Nilesh Dessai said people are mostly left high and dry by these non-supervised valve operators, failing to operate supply valves.
