Tawadkar stresses on proper counselling of students

Sports and Tribal Welfare Minister Ramesh Tawadkar has stressed the need for proper counselling of every student to make them promising and worthy citizens of the State and nation.

CANACONA: Sports and Tribal Welfare Minister Ramesh Tawadkar has stressed the need for proper counselling of every student to make them promising and worthy citizens of the State and nation.

He was speaking at the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Shradhanand Dnyprasarak Mandal at its school, Shri Shradhanand Vidyalaya, Poinguinim. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who was scheduled to attend the function as chief guest skipped the function.

Tawadkar emphasised that every school in a village should be the centre of value-based transformation of its pupils.

Sanguem MLA Subhash Phaldessai called upon the residents of Poinguinim not to leave Marathi medium schools (village-based schools) and go after English medium schools to teach their children.

“Only the village schools can provide high quality and value-based education to your children and not the English-based schools,” he stated.

“In this instant world, everyone looks for instant returns. Please understand that instant is never constant,” said Phaldessai. 

Earlier, in the presence of Tawadkar, Phaldessai garlanded the portrait of Swami Vivekanand, whose 150 years celebrations begun all over the country on Saturday.

An extension of Shri Shradhanand Vidyalaya building, housing a conference hall named after the society’s founder Ramdas Painguinkar, a Science laboratory and Computer Lab were inaugurated.
