PANJIM: Taxi drivers Wednesday are up in arms over the launch of OLA cabs and women’s taxi service, arguing that it would shrink their pie even further.
Speaking to media, North Goa Taxi Owners association members were upset over what they felt was an attempt by the government to get in competition through the back door. Arguing that their business was a form of the mom and pop model, the taxi owners said that as it is they are finding it difficult to make ends meet especially as their business was seasonal.
A group of taxi drivers went to the office of the company Wednesday and were told that the company had still not got its licence from the government to operate, sources say. Taxis in the State are already at logger heads with the government over the tours operated by travel agents, Russian taxi drivers and are in talks with the government in a bid to sort out the mess.
