BICHOLIM: Union Ayush Minister Shripad Naik has lambasted the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department for being a major hurdle in completing the projects under MPLAD scheme.
“Several projects would have been completed as of today, if the terms and conditions of TCP were not so rigid,” he said.
The minister made the remark after laying foundation stone for Sateri Devasthan community hall at Usap in Bicholim, recently.
The hall will be constructed at a cost of Rs 50 lakh.
“The terms and conditions of TCP are so rigid that it becomes very difficult to complete the MPLAD projects in time, thus hindering the development process. Hence, I feel that the State government should look into matter and delete all the rigid terms,” he said adding that his main focus is to undertake development in rural areas for which 80% of the MPLAD fund is being utilised.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant stated that many families in Goa have not a single earning person. “Therefore, I want to provide at least one job per family,” he said.
Speaker Rajesh Patnekar warned government officials not to hold the files of common people and of those projects coming under MPLAD scheme. “The government will take serious action on such officials,” he warned.
Others present on the occasion were Mayem MLA Pravin Zantye, Sarpanch Prashant Ghadi, former sarpanch Tulshidas Gaonkar, panch Trupti Gaonkar, Bicholim BJP Mandal President Vallabh Salkar and North Goa ZP President Ankita Navelkar.
