TCP says land given for new VP ghar is unfit: Seraulim sarpanch

SERAULIM: Seraulim village panchayat sarpanch Leslie Dourado informed the Sunday gram sabha that the Town and Country Department (TCP) has rejected proposal by the local body for constructing of panchayat ghar in a gifted land, behind local church citing that it was not feasible for construction purpose.

SERAULIM: Seraulim village panchayat sarpanch Leslie Dourado informed the Sunday gram sabha that the Town and Country Department (TCP) has rejected proposal by the local body for constructing of panchayat ghar in a gifted land, behind local church citing that it was not feasible for construction purpose. 
Local resident had gifted low lying land, paddy field to panchayat for construction of a panchayat ghar; however, the same was found not to be feasible by TCP who cited that the area will be water logged. 
The Issue of construction of a railway flyover also came up for discussion, with villagers wanting to know the status in respect of the same. Sarpanch Dourado informed that the PWD has to acquire land for the same and that necessary process was ongoing. Gram sabha member Santurnino Rodrigues demanded that panchayat stop issuing licences for commercial projects in village until the infrastructure was upgraded. 
Villagers also demanded that the village panchayat should attend to and repair and develop roads in the village. 
The power problem faced by villagers also figured in the discussion. 
Gram sabha members strongly opposed government the move to hold panchayat election on party lines. 
There was no development proposal received from villagers at the gram sabha.
