One of the tourists, Shivappa Khandola, reportedly informed his other friends that he knew to swim and jumped into the sea. Within a few minutes, the startled tourists saw the body of Khandola floating in the sea and they raised an alarm.
Police added that the Dhristi lifeguards who sighted occupants of the boat in distress rushed to their aid and managed to recover the body of Khandola and bring it ashore. Khandola was rushed to the Chicalim Cottage hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
The police have sent the body for an autopsy at the GMC and Vasco PSI John Fernandes is investigating the case.
