PANJIM: There is hope of removal of the major bottleneck along the NH17 as it crosses Panjim in the near future with tenders opened for the Rs 355 crore third Mandovi bridge Friday.
The opening of tenders for the bridge which would link Porvorim to Merces, with approach roads starting at Pundalik Nagar and Merces Junction was cleared by the Election Commission given that the code of conduct is in place. There are 6 bidders for the project.
The government is also contemplating on approaching the Election Commission to open the tenders for the Rs 71 crore High Court building. The High Court tender was due to be opened on March 3 while the third Mandovi bridge tender was to be opened on April 24.
According to the bridge tender floated by the Goa Infrastructure Development Corporation, time for completion is 30 months from the time of issue of work orders.
The GSIDC had invited online bids under two bids system on Lumpsum basis from eligible contractors or agencies for ‘Design and Construction of Bridge Across river Mandovi at Panjim including approaches on NH 17 between Pundalik Nagar junction (Porvorim) and Merces junction as well as the construction of New High Court Complex at Penha De Franca, Porvorim, civil, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, fire-fighting & lift works.
Similarly the last date for bids for the Ravindra Bhavan at Canacona – a Rs 44 crore project, is May 2.
