PANJIM: Deputing workers from the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC) to Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) is illegal, claimed KTC Drivers and Allied Employees Association.
The Association, which held a protest at KTC Panjim depo on Tuesday said that from March 1 KTC contract workers have been asked to stop their services in view of the workmen provided by the GHRDC.
Speaking to the media, association president Gajanan Naik said the order is illegal. “KTCL management cannot take such arbitrary and recalcitrant approach in dealing with its own workers. These workers have worked for more than 15 to 20 years continuously. New workmen and recruiting new workmen through GHRDC is illegal, unjustified and is anti-labour policy of KTCL,” he said.
The contract workers were employed at various KTCL depots and were engaged in cleaning, sweeping, bus cleaning and washing. All the workers have decided to protest the anti-labour policies of KTCL and its contractor, Naik said.
