PANJIM: The State reported 1401 new COVID cases and 38 deaths on Monday, the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) bulletin revealed.
Of the 38 deaths, 25 took place at Goa Medical College (GMC), eight at the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), two at two private hospitals in North Goa (Manipal and Galaxy), two at a private hospital in South Goa (SMRC) and one was a person brought dead to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Curtorim. DHS added that four of the deceased had received the first vaccination dose.
While 37 of the 38 deaths reported took place within 24 hours of Monday evening, one death had occurred on May 20.
In the last eight days there have been 334 deaths and the total deaths since the beginning of the pandemic has reached 2421.
On Monday, 165 new patients were hospitalised while there were 147 hospital discharges. Another 1236 patients have been placed under home isolation.
The daily COVID positivity rate is now at 35.35, while 3963 samples were tested in the last 24 hours of Monday evening. Also, 2362 persons were reported to have recovered and the recovery rate is now at 87.35 per cent.
While the total number of active cases has come down to 16,278, the number of active cases at the Urban Health Centre (UHC) Margao, that has been leading the stats amongst Health Centres, has also come down to 1588. UHC Panjim (883), PHC Ponda (871), PHC Chimbel (826), PHC Porvorim (761), PHC Candolim (749), PHC Cansaulim (667) and PHC Cortalim (642) are health centres having above 600 active cases.
