As the feeling among the Goans of Goenkarponn and protecting and preserving Goa for Goans amplified, Herald discovered a massive land at Quepem which was illegally plundered by several non-Goans with political blessings. The investigation revealed that the politicians and the bureaucracy, and also the custodians of the Comunidade land were themselves the ones who were responsible for the plunder.
The story was essential to be followed for the very fact that at least now the classes and masses awaken to the fact that Goa and its derailing identity. This report surprisingly revealed the faces of the custodians of these lands, NGOs and politicians who have conveniently used Goenkarponn as a tool to woo Niz Goenkars but remained in Himalayan silence over the expose of Herald.
However, after Herald’s constant coverage, the Deputy Collector of Quepem and the Comunidade administrator were forced to reopen the inquiry into the illegalities. The Collector moved under Land and Revenue Code and Administrator of Comunidades began fresh hearing in the violations.
