BJP activists burn Porvorim MLA’s effigy 
BICHOLIM: BJP activists from Bicholim, Mayem and Sanquelim constituencies burnt the effigy of Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte protesting his alleged assault on senior BJP leader from Bicholim Premanand Mhambrey and for allegedly using abusive language.
The protest in Bicholim was attended by Mayem ZP member Shankar Chodankar, Mayem BJP Block President Dayanand Karbotkar, Bicholim BJP Block President Vishwas Chodankar, Anil Naik, Krishna Parab, Rajan Kadkade, Sachin Salkar and others.
Probe  fraudulent complaint properly: GFP  
PANJIM: Extending full support to Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte, the Goa Forward Party demanded that the fraudulent complaint filed against the legislator be investigated properly and the real culprit should be booked. 
Addressing media persons, GFP vice president Dilip Prabhudesai said that the party strongly condemns the act of illegal arrest of Khaunte in the wee hours of Thursday based on a false complaint filed by BJP office bearer.
“GFP fully backs Khaunte and we will stand with him in his battle,” he said adding that the party also supports the stand of United Opposition that the fraudulent complaint be investigated properly and justice be given to the legislator.
He said that the real culprit Premanand Mhambrey, who is the complainant, should be booked for the false complaint.
“We urge Goa Police not to fall prey to their political masters and act as per law,” Prabhudesai said. 
Khaunte’s supporters want complainant arrested
MAPUSA: Well wishers and supporters of Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte extended their support to their legislator following his arrest by Porvorim Police.
People from different parts of Porvorim constituency gathered near Chavdeshwar Temple, Maina-Socorro and criticised Mhambrey for filing a false complaint against Khaunte and condemned MLA’s arrest. 
Brittona Villagers Front president Agnelo Pereira said, “The Speaker showed that he is party speaker and not of the State. This act of Mhambrey is to gain publicity. We challenge the police and speaker to arrest Mhambrey for filing a false complaint. Rohan is not a terrorist or criminal to arrest. Without proper investigation and inquiry, Khaunte was arrested by making false allegation against him”.
AAP says MLAs proved they are more suited to be circus artistes 
MARGAO:  Reacting to the arrest of MLA Rohan Khaunte at the behest of the BJP, AAP said that the MLAs once again shown that they are more suited to be circus artistes. 
Addressing media persons, AAP convenor Elvis Gomes said people were getting to see circus rather than any meaningful governance in the State. 
Gomes considered the Speaker’s action in allowing the arrest of the MLA for an alleged incident in the precincts of the Assembly as deplorable. 
MLA failed to respect right to speech of his opponent: Cong
MAPUSA:  Porvorim Block Congress Committee accused the local MLA Rohan Khaunte legislator of failing to respect the very basic fundamental right to speech and movement of his political opponent. 
“Right to freedom of movement and speech is basic fundamental right of every citizen. However, it is very unfortunate that the legislator could not respect this right of a political opponent. It is shameful and a matter of serious concern that such criminal act of a legislator and that too in the premises of State Legislative Assembly, Porvorim Block Congress Committee president Adv Shankar Phadte said. 
Porvorim Block BJP stages protest
MAPUSA: Porvorim Block BJP staged a protest on Thursday condemning the act of Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte for allegedly assaulting and threatening party spokesperson Premanand Mhambrey at Goa Legislative Assembly premises.
Addressing media persons Kishor Asnodkar said,” Freedom of Speech is our constitutional right. Through a press conference, BJP spokesperson Premanand Mhambrey highlighted the illegal activities that Khaunte is involved in. As a counter reaction to it, Khaunte should have responded to it by holding a press conference.
