PANJIM: Rosy Ferros, a co-conspirator in the rape and human trafficking case booked against St Cruz MLA Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate, by Crime Branch is still at large. Crime Branch officials, however, said they will be apprehending her shortly. Crime Branch arrested Monserrate and the victim’s mother in the case on Thursday evening.
According to Police, Rosy is the woman who had made the deal with Monserrate to sell the 16-year-old girl to him who was later allegedly raped by him.
Sources said that Monserrate was using Rosy, a resident of Taleigao, for such activities. Police said Rosy supplied teenaged girls to Monserrate whenever he demanded in return for cash.
The victim, who called Rosy ‘aunty’ was shocked to know she had been sold to Monserrate and stated this during counseling at Apna Ghar.
Crime Branch officials said that Rosy acted as a pimp for Monserrate. In her statement before the victim assistance unit the girl said that her mother and Rosy had dropped her to the Babush’s farmhouse in Taleigao.
Sources in Taleigao have confirmed that Rosy had close links with Monserrate and had been seen with girls.
