MARGAO: Goa Forward Party president Vijai Sardesai along with vice president Durgadas Kamat hailed the Supreme Court decision to uphold the Bombay High Court’s verdict on the upcoming municipal elections.

Sardesai in a press meet said that ‘this verdict of the Supreme Court is a victory not only for the people of Goa but also for all Indians across the country.’ He said, “This comes as a much needed reminder to the BJP, and particularly to the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, to never consider themselves outside the ambit of the Constitution, and above the scrutiny of the courts. It should teach them to never take power and democracy for granted. This Supreme Court judgment liberates Goemkars’ silenced and suppressed under Pramod Sawant.”
Sardesai also demanded stepping down of Goa State Election Commissioner and Law Secretary Choka Ram Garg.
“Sawant will be under extra scrutiny now, as the judicial loss will not go well with his party leadership, including the Prime Minister,” Sardesai said. He stated that he and his party will always fight for the truth, and will place Goa and Goemkars first. “We’re not afraid of the BJP and their dirty tricks. Sawant has certified himself as a cheater and that’s his only way of passing exams. He never cared a hoot about any Goan issues,” he added.
The GFP chief claimed CM’s days are numbered.’ “Continuing as Chief Minister after such a rap from the highest court of the land, and that too for attempt to murder democracy, is a disgrace to the constitutional post of CM. This is his opportunity to quit public life,” Sardesai added.
In a series of tweets, Sardesai pointed out “he [Dr. Pramod Sawant] has brought disgrace not only to Goa but also to his own leader Narendra Modi who had bowed before the Constitution before taking office in 2019.”
