CURCHOREM: It is not often that female academicians are associated with a passion for motorbike adventures, but Joselyn Mascarenhas has gone a step further.
This teacher from Quepem has formed a 30-member group called the Goan Royal Riders (GRR) and they have been conducting various motorcycle rides across Goa and neighbouring states.
“I had a passion for riding motorbikes and my dad always supported and motivated me in all my endeavours. My dream came true as my fiancé entrusted me with a Royal Enfield,” said Mascarenhas.
“My passion for riding got a further boost two years back, when a group of riders associated with Saini Motors formed a club called the Goan Royal Riders,” she added.
“Apart from our group, there is another group of friends with different bikes. But we all have one goal and thus we all ride together every month, exploring nature by doing adventurous rides and exploring new roads,” Mascarenhas added.
Besides visiting various sites in Goa, including temples, churches, orphanages and aged homes, the GRR has also visited places in Kolhapur, Dandeli, Shangrila, Chorla Ghat, Ambolim, Mainapi and Mumbai.
“We enjoy riding and the same joy and excitement is shared with orphan children, aged people and the marginalized ones,” said Mascarenhas. “Our next dream is to visit Ladhak and to cover entire India by visiting at least one state each year.
As a teacher by profession, she feels the need to impart a special message to her students.
“I will teach my students that we are all travelers who need to ride in pursuit of our goal, thus fulfilling our dreams and desires,”
Mascarenhas said.
