Those found drinking in public places will be arrested: North SP

Four drug cases booked, three prostitution rackets busted and eight victims rescued in four months, says PI Dalvi

MAPUSA: Stating that he has instructed the police officials to arrest those found drinking in public places under Section 34 of IPC, North SP Kartik Kashyap called upon the citizens to inform the police on such cases.
He was speaking at a community meeting organised by the Calangute police station, which was attended by PI Jivba Dalvi, shack owners, prominent citizens and hoteliers from Calangute.
Earlier, the people highlighted the problems they have been facing on the beaches especially at night. 
The shack owners informed that they are inconvenienced over the fact that the tourists get drunk and break the bottles on the beaches,.
PI Dalvi informed them that the cops have been conducting pro-active policing and within four months, they have booked four cases of drugs under NDPS Act and busted three prostitution rackets. They have been successful in rescuing eight victims.
During this meeting, SP Kartik Kashyap assured to people that he would fulfil their grievances.
6 tourists held for consuming 
alcohol in public 
MAPUSA: Calangute police on Thursday arrested six domestic tourists for consuming alcohol in public places.
According to Calangute Police, following instructions from North Superintendent of Police on May 3, they launched a drive against people consuming alcohol in public places. 
On the first day, Calangute police arrested six domestic tourists – Babul Prashant (30),  Shridhar (28), Awanath (32), Kartik N (32), all residents of Kolal-Karnataka and two others — Sunil Julankar (30) from Nagpur and Manish Kumar (29) from Delhi. 
All these persons have arrested under Section 34(IV) of IPC and were produced before JMFC Mapusa.
