PANJIM: A total of 39 MLAs-elect took oath as Members of the Goa Legislative Assembly on Thursday.
The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Pro-tem Speaker Siddharth Kuncoliencar.
While 17 members took oath in Konkani, 11 opted for English, eight in Marathi and three in Hindi.
To everyone’s surprise, Ponda MLA Ravi Naik took oath in Hindi and he was followed by Shiroda MLA Subhash Shirodkar and CLP leader Chandrakant (Babu) Kavalekar in the same language.
Interestingly, Naik had also printed his election manifesto for Ponda in Kannada which had raised many eyebrows.
